This is our first time hosting a backyard ultra in recent years, if at all. The event will be hosted at the Yellowknife Ski Club. Course map is above, we will complete the loop twice. The end line will finish just short of the start line to make the course 6.7km.
A course will be created for a total distance of 6.7km that will need to be completed every hour. At the start of the hour, a horn/bell/cowbell/tbd will chime to signal the start of a fresh hour and lap. Those who have not completed their previous 6.7km lap will unfortunately be finished the event.
Even if you finish your lap in 40 minutes, you must wait until the next chime at the 60 minutes to signal the start of a new lap and new hour. You must wait until the start of a fresh hour before starting up again. Completion of your 6.7km needs to be done before the 60 minute mark is up.
The first lap will start at 8AM sharp. The last lap will occur at 7PM, and the race will be finished at 8PM. This provides racers the opportunity to run a total of 73.7km in 11 hours.
We will be looking for 2-3 volunteers for 3 timeframes (if you would like to volunteer for longer, please feel free to do so!)
Snacks and water will be provided. Please invite friends/family to join you and bring any supplies you may need!
Volunteer shift 1 – 7am to 11am
Volunteer shift 2 – 11am to 3pm
Volunteer shift 3 – 3pm to 8pm/finish
Refunds: Due to the nature and planning for this race, we are unable to offer refunds for this event. We have committed to donating a large portion of proceeds to the Arctic Indigenous Wellness Foundation, and would like to honour that donation. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but rest assured your participation fee will still go towards the donation to the AIWF.
